Products > Pilot-Operated Regulators
Pilot-Operated Regulators are more accurate and offer
higher capacities than standard direct-operated regulators. They will
maintain constant set outlet pressure even when inlet pressure fluctuates
or variations in flow occur. With the proper selection of pilots, these
regulators will accurately control temperature, pressure or a combination
of both.
The Watson McDaniel HD Series Pilot-Operated Regulating
Valve features a Ductile Iron body for increased
pressure and temperature ratings. It is ruggedly designed for
steam service and can be configured with a variety of pilots or pilot
combinations, giving this regulating valve extreme versatility.
Using the Standard “P” Pressure Pilot, outlet pressure
can be reduced in the range of 3-200 PSIG, depending on the selected
spring. Maximum operating pressure (PMO) for the HD Regulating
Valve is 300 PSIG.
These Pilots can all be used with the HD Series Main
Valve:
“P” is the Standard Pressure Pilot which has a control pressure range of 3-200 PSIG and +/- 1% accuracy;
“P5” is a Special Pressure Pilot which
has a control pressure range of 1-25 PSIG and +/- 0.5% accuracy.
“T” is the Standard Temperature Pilot which has a temperature control range of 60-260 °F.
“TRP” is a Special Temperature Pilot which has a temperature control range of 20-250 °F.
“A” is the Air Pilot which has a
control pressure range of 3-200 PSIG.
“DP” is the Differential Pressure
Pilot which has an outlet pressure control range of 3-200 PSIG.
“BP” is the Back Pressure Pilot which
has a back pressure control range of 10-200 PSIG.
“S” is the Solenoid Pilot which is
used for electrical On/Off control of the HD Valve.
Note: Overall pressure and temperature ranges are
given above; actual ranges will depend on selected spring, sensing bulb
or specific Air Pilot diaphragm (A1, A4 or A6). Consult specification
sheets.
The PTL and PTR Pneumatic
Temperature Controllers are used in conjunction with an
“A” Air Pilot to control the operation of the HD
Regulator. The PTL uses a bi-metallic element to
sense temperature and the PTR uses a hydraulically
filled bulb with a 4-ft. capillary to sense temperature. The air
supply is connected to the inlet of the controller and the air output
signal is fed directly to an Air Pilot, which controls the opening and
closing of the steam regulating valve. These controllers operate
over a wider temperature range than our standard “T”
Temperature Pilot. They also react quicker to temperature changes
which make them an excellent choice for instantaneous hot water
applications.
Model HDP (HD Valve with
“P” or “P5” Pressure Pilot) is used to
regulate outlet pressure in the range of 3-200 PSIG with the
“P” Pilot or 1-25 PSIG with the “P5” Pilot.
Model HDT (HD Valve with
“T” Temperature Pilot) is used to regulate temperature in
the range of 60-260 °F.
Model HDA (HD Valve with
“A” Air Pilot) is used to regulate outlet pressures in
the range of 3-200 PSIG.
Model HDPT (HD Valve with
“P” or “P5” Pressure Pilot and
“T” Temperature Pilot) is used to regulate outlet
pressure in the range of 3-200 PSIG with the “P” Pilot or
1-25 PSIG with the “P5” Pilot, and temperature in the
range of 60-260 °F.
Note: Overall pressure and temperature ranges are
given above; actual ranges will depend on selected spring, sensing bulb
or specific Air Pilot diaphragm (A1, A4 or A6). Consult specification
sheets.
The Watson McDaniel HSP Series Pressure Regulating
Valve is constructed of Cast Carbon Steel for
higher pressure and temperature ratings. With a built-in
spring-adjusted pressure pilot, this valve is specifically designed for
general purpose steam pressure reducing applications. Outlet
pressure can be reduced in the range of 10-300 PSIG, depending on the
selected spring. Maximum operating pressure (PMO) for HSP
Regulating Valve is 450 PSIG.
Noise Attenuation Equipment is used to reduce unwanted or excessive
noise that commonly occurs in pressure reducing stations. Watson
McDaniel Series-A, Series-H & Series-S Noise
Attenuators are used in conjunction with Pressure Regulating
Valves to provide noise attenuations in the range of 5-30 dBA.
